In this project I was tasked with designing an identity system for the Vienna 2038 Winter Olympic Games. The selected location was randomly chosen. This project emphasizes process, research, and the ability to incorporate the hosting city's culture into the final design.

JESSICA CRUZ

Vienna, the capital of Austria, is well-known for its rich music history and opera, with notable composers like Mozart, Beethoven, and Strauss. Use of music notes in order to compose classical music specifically. Vienna is also known for the Piano and string quartet (Violin family). Uniquely, Vienna is the inventor of the snow globe and waltz tradition.

Sketching Process

After researching the country’s identifiers, the top three of eight involve music. Ultimately, the selected logo became a mashup of an Olympic torch and music notes. Additionally, as I refined the logo through iterative stages, I incorporated elements inspired by the movements of a conductor orchestrating Ludwig van Beethoven's renowned composition, Symphony No.9. This infusion added depth and resonance to the finalized design, enriching its symbolic significance.
